Our Display Prado 250 Build

Build Completed: October 2025

Building on its predecessors’ legacy, the all-new Toyota Landcruiser 250 Series Prado is shaping up to be a fantastic vehicle platform. It balances the need for a capable, reliable touring vehicle that is also suited to everyday use.

The focus when building this vehicle was to keep it sensible and practical. We wanted to enhance its offroad performance and get it ready for touring however we didn’t want to sacrifice everyday practicality along the way. This focus is reflected in the modifications we’ve chosen and in the finished build.

Suspension Package

As with most of our builds we started with the vehicle’s foundation, the suspension. Getting this right is key and can make or break a build. We partnered with Jmacx and had the opportunity to fit up their new Alpha Mono shocks along with a full suspension package. We feel this setup compliments the Prado nicely, unlocking its capability without going over the top.

Wheels & Tyres

When it came down to wheels and tyres, we considered our options carefully and decided to run a 33” tyre. This is a nice in-between size that balances the need for offroad clearance without being too large that it impacts fuel economy and everyday practicality.

Method Race Wheels were excited to be a part of the project and after speaking with them we opted for their all new 709 wheel. We also opted to fit their forged impact rings. This allowed us to add a nice pop of colour and has the added feature of being replaceable should damage occur.

Complementing the wheels, Maxxis jumped on board with a set of their RAZR tyres. With every day use in mind we opted for their A/T tyre. Allowing us good traction offroad whilst not impacting on road mannerisms.

Roof rack

Next, to help unlock some more storage space for trips away we installed an ARB Base Rack. This rack replaces the factory roof rails which allows it to sit extremely low to the vehicle and thanks to its fully welded construction it is also very light and strong.

With some major components of the build now installed, it was time to take a step back and see how everything was looking before getting started on the next stage!

Barwork

With plenty of country roads and outback trips planned for the Prado a bull bar was simply a must to protect against animal strikes and damage. Our bar of choice was the ARB Summit MKii bar. This provides plenty of protection whilst also integrating with all of the factory cameras and sensors. Additionally, we fitted a pair of ARB Rated recovery points to provide an easy way out should we get into any trouble.

Driving Lights

Lighting the way up front is a pair of Ultra Vision 140 Maxx lights. These have become one of our go-to lights and we believe they’ll complement the rest of the build perfectly. We’ve opted for the lights in a warm colour temperature, closer to that of natural sunlight as we’ve found this is easier on the eyes over long distances.

Exhaust

Underneath the Prado we worked with Manta to install one of their stainless-steel exhaust systems. We opted for their 3” DPF back system which will allow more exhaust gas to flow through the system without being too noisy for day-to-day use.

Wrapping Up

The end result of this build is exactly as we’d hoped, a perfect balance between a practical daily use vehicle and a capable touring setup. We’d like to say a big thanks to all of the suppliers who have helped out with the build and brought it together so quickly. It’s now time to get the Prado out on some trips, do some R&D and plan what’s next for it!
