SUSPENSION AND GVM UPGRADES

We like to think of suspension upgrades and as the starting foundation of a vehicle fit out. Getting your 300 Series Landcruiser’s suspension setup right is key for extracting the best on and offroad performance and driveability from vehicle. Knowing what you’ll be using the vehicle for and what other modifications you plan on doing helps with selecting the right suspension package for your needs.

Why upgrade your suspension?

Over the years we’ve found that our customers have many different reasons for upgrading their suspension. Some are looking for performance, some are looking for reliability, some are doing it for aesthetics however the majority of our customers are upgrading their suspension so that they can comfortably and safely carry more weight than the factory suspension is designed for.

Load Carrying

The number one reason for replacing the 300 Series factory suspension with aftermarket suspension is to help carry more weight in the vehicle. The factory suspension is designed to suit the factory vehicle so when aftermarket modifications are added to the vehicle, they also add weight and the factory suspension is no longer suited to carrying the additional load.

Longevity

For those going offroad in their 300 Series they are most likely going to encounter rough and unforgiving road conditions. Over time the factory suspension can wear out leading to shock fade or shock failures. This is why many people choose to replace the factory suspension with high quality aftermarket suspension specifically designed for these conditions.

Lift

All of our aftermarket suspension options come with a lift as standard. Lifting the 300 Series Landcruiser has a number of benefits, one of them being increasing the vehicle’s ground clearance and departure / ramp over angles. Lifting the vehicle also allows for the fitment of larger tyres whilst also improving the vehicles overall aesthetics / looks.

Old Man Emu Nitrocharger

Old Man Emu’s tried and tested shock, the Nitrocharger has been around for decades and for good reason – it’s simple and reliable. The Nitrocharger is the starting point of the range and a great option for many.

Old Man Emu MT64

The newest edition to Old Man Emu’s range, the MT64 bridges the gap between their entry level Nitrocharger Plus shock and their premium BP51 shock. This is an exciting new shock and will be a popular all-rounder.

Old Man Emu BP51

The Ultimate Old Man Emu shock, the BP51 is the premium shock option for a premium vehicle such as the 300 Series. The shock features a remote oil reservoir and ten stages of adjustment for optimum performance.

Jmacx Alpha Shocks

After 1000’s of hours of R&D in the pursuit of developing the ultimate shock, the Jmacx Alpha range of suspension was born. The Alpha’s feature the highest level of performance and durability along with an extensive range of features.

Jmacx Electric Shock Control

An optional extra with Alpha shocks, upgrading to the Jmacx electric shock control will unlock even more options. It allows the shocks to be adjusted from in the cab whilst driving or automatically adjusting whilst driving thanks to the built-in gyro sensor.

Jmacx diff housing

Primarily used in conjunction with the Jmacx 300 Series 4200kg GVM upgrade, the Jmacx 300 Series diff housing is a fully fabricated replacement diff housing to help achieve the higher rear axle loads required with their 4200kg GVM kit.

GVM Upgrade Options

A hot topic, ensuring your vehicle is within its legal Gross Vehicle Mass is crucial. By carrying more weight and fitting modifications the vehicles factory GVM can easily be exceeded and a GVM upgrade is required. Protection Equipment

Often referred to as another form of insurance, bull bars, side steps, bash plates and more help to protect your pride and joy and in some cases can help avoid a potentially trip-ending incident.

We offer a range of different protection products for the 300 Series. The most common brand we sell is ARB who have developed a full range of protection products to specifically suit the 300 Series. Some of these products include:

Summit Bar MKII

ARB’s premium bull bar offering, the Summit MKII bar builds on decades of development, integrating with all the factory features and technology whilst protecting the front of the vehicle at the same time.

Sahara Bar MKII

Similar in styling and features to the Summit bar, the ARB Sahara bar features a single centre hoop for a more simplistic style and can be optioned with an integrated light bar.

ARB Side Steps

Side steps help to protect your door sills from costly damage by mounting to the chassis and providing a solid steel protection bar along the length of the door sill.

ARB Side Rails

Compatible with the ARB Summit bar and ARB side steps, ARB side rails extend from the bar and along the side of the car to provide additional protection on the front quarters.

Bash Plates

Underneath your 300 Series there is a range of vulnerable components which can be easily damaged, potentially resulting in the end of your trip. Fitting bash plates will help provide additional protection and reduce the risk of damage.

Recovery Points

As the saying goes; “prepare for the worst, hope for the best”. We strongly recommend fitting recovery points as they can be critical for quickly and safely getting yourself out of any prickly situations you may encounter.

Winches

Installing a winch is one of those modifications which is better to have and not need rather than needing and not having. If you are planning to install a front bar it is also a good time to consider if you are going to need a winch as these usually need to be fitted at the same time.
