Grant and Jane set out to build their ideal tourer for traveling around Australia! The Mazda BT-50 freestyle cab was the platform of choice which provided a great cost effective option and plenty of room for the tray mounted camper. After Grant and Jane locked in an order for a Hardlid camper from Jacksons Carry Me Camper we got to work tailoring a vehicle fit out to suit their requirements. The vehicle turned out just the way we planned!

Grant and Jane wanted a new vehicle fitted out to accommodate a tray mounted camper, our ability to perform everything in the one place made us a great option to meet their requirements. The Hardlid camper from Jacksons Carry Me Camper was the camper of choice and the Mazda BT-50 was our platform. We worked with Grant and Jane to come up with a suitable list of modifications for the vehicle and proceeded with the build.
We started with the GVM package, Grant and Jane went for the Old Man Emu 3500kg GVM with BP51 shocks. The 3500kg GVM upgrade provided enough payload to legally carry the camper and handle the added weight of other accessories. Improved ride comfort and handling were achieved with the BP51 shocks due to their bypass technology and adjustability, this adjustability allows the shocks to be fine tuned depending on driving conditions. To improvement the wheel alignment and steering feel a set of Black Hawk upper control arms were installed.
On the front the ARB Summit bar was fitted along with a pair of LED fog lights wired to a factory style dash switch. To keep things cost effective we went with a winch and driving lights from Bushranger, the winch was a 10,000lb Revo and the lights are the Night Hawk VLI. For recovery and protection we also installed the ARB rated recovery point and an ARB under vehicle protection system which protects all the way from the bull bar to the back of the transmission.
Next up was a Safari snorkel to provide clean air to the engine and an ARB Frontier 140L fuel tank for additional fuel storage. On the rear we installed the Hayman Reese X-bar which operates as a towbar whilst also including inbuilt recovery points and a skid plate for the trailer wiring. Grant and Jayne went with the GME XRS UHF paired up with a GME antenna for communications and for tyre inflation we installed an ARB twin air compressor system. The wheel of choice was the Octagon from ROH and these are wrapped in a set of Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tyres.
Once our side of the build was complete we sent the vehicle down to our sister company Jacksons Carry Me Camper. They fitted an aluminium tray with rear draw, tool boxes, under tray water tank and flared mud guards. The tray become home to the new Hardlid Camper which is fully fitted out inside with water tanks, fridges, electrical system, bedding etc. The camper is the final touch to complete this ideal tourer.
