About Kerry’s Build
Once Kerry approached us for the build and we sorted out a suitable package for him, we organised the local dealer to supply his new 79 series. Kerry was guided by us and trusted our expertise with this one, we helped select everything he needed and nothing he didn’t. The parts were ordered, the fit out was scheduled and the team got to work. Once the build was complete we took it for a few shakedown runs to ensure everything was operational and performing well prior to Kerry coming over from New Zealand to take delivery.
The foundation for this build was the Jmacx GVM upgrade, this allows the vehicle to legally carry the weight required whilst still handling nicely. As part of the GVM upgrade we perform modifications to the suspension, driveline, diff housing and braking system. Now the GVM is 4200kg with a maintained 3500kg towing capacity, it is also legal with the 2” lift and 33” tyres. The King remote res shocks are 30 stage adjustable which provides fantastic tunability of the suspension. Kerry chose the 305 NV Method Race Wheels in machined finish with a set of Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 tyres, internally a set of ARB tyre monitors were fitted to keep an eye on tyre pressures.
Kerry wanted his bar work to look smart so we colour coded the ARB gear to match the factory paint work, the bar is now home to a winch, lights, bash plate and recovery point too. On the rear we fitted the Hayman Reese X-bar with inbuilt recovery points and skid plates to protect the wiring. Other external mods included the long range fuel tank, roof rack, air system, diff breathers and a set of our shortened Clearview mirrors. For the engine and performance side of things Kerry chose the Safari Armax package which includes the clutch, snorkel and ECU. To complement the Safari package we also fitted an exhaust system, pre filter and catch can
Inside the cabin Kerry made sure he was travelling in comfort and style. The cabin received a full sound deadening package and then an upgraded Alpine sound system with inbuilt Hema mapping and a reverse camera Next we installed the Cruiser Consoles roof console and floor console for some additional storage, a comfortable arm rest and some map lighting. To finish off the interior a set of Recaro leather sets were next with seat heating and air lumbar support, a fantastic option for long hours on the road.
Thanks to Kerry for choosing us to set up this remote touring 79 series, handling the entire process was an absolute pleasure and we look forward to hearing plenty of travel stories in the future!
